(A kind-hearted smart fellow has agreed to have his name printed as the author of Dalal's Street. Even after hearing him carefully several times from 1:23 to 1:27 of his ad, I am not sure if he says: "I run/ran a course in creative writing in the University of Oxford" - which sounds very impressive - or says: "I have done a course in creative writing in the University of Oxford." It sounds like a pathetic joke, either way.)

It seems that "Bazarov" is a clever and polite spelling of Bizarre! The very moving short story THE HAPPY PRINCE by "Oscar Wilde" and the light-hearted romantic novel PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by "Jane Austen" portraying "proud" Mr. Darcy are two literary "classics" that are obviously based on Me though I don't see how I am "proud" if I am not wasting My time chasing pr. honeytraps whose MISSION is to distract Me and prevent Me from achieving immortality and eternal youth for the long-cheated human race. - G]

Chaudhuri is in two volumes - My paperbck copy - which I bought many years ago - is in ONE volume. It was published by Jaico, probably, but I don't feel !Ike getting up and taking out the book from a bookshelf in My personal library to confirm or correct the name of the publisher. The autobiography is written in a very entertaining English style reminiscent of Professor Norman Lewis. Many years ago, when I was a student at (then all-male) St. Stephen's College, Delhi, Nirad C. Chaudhuri was invited by St. Stephen's College to give a talk. I remember listening to bespectacled Nirad C. Chaudhuri entertaining his audience (the students and faculty of our college) with his fluent reading aloud of the typed text on paper sheets he was reading aloud from, seated on a chair. But he was speaking VERY FAST and his talk included difficult English words and so I could not completely understand his fluent talk but I remember feeling HIGHLY ENTERTAINED AND INSPIRED by his FLUENT talk in English. - G

When I was a B.Sc. Physics Honours student at St. Stephen's College, Delhi - I had obtained first rank in Gauhati University Pre-University Science exam from Cotton College, Assam - it was an all-male college, with male faculty and male students. At that time, our Physics honours classes and subsidiary Chemistry and History of Science and Scientific Method classes were taught by excellent teaching faculty of Delhi University very near St. Stephen's College and college hostel (where I stayed). Compulsory English and subsidiary Mathematics and Ethics classes were taught by excellent faculty of St. Stephen's College. I was impressed by the reading aloud of short passages from the Bible by Principal S. C. Sircar (Subodh Chandra Sircar was his full name, I think) every morning in the college auditorium. (Principal S. C. Sircar, M.A. (Oxford), who taught us college algebra for some time, had won the gold medal for elocution at Oxford University.) We male students of St. Stephen's College attended our Physics honours classes at Delhi University with male and female students (three or four) of co-ed Hindu College, and we attended subsidiary Chemistry classes at Delhi University with male and female students (three or four) of co-ed Kirori Mal College (I think - or was it Hans Raj College? - it was not Ramjas College). I cannot clearly recall seeing girl students (from some co-ed college on Delhi University campus; I was interested in learning, not in distracting "friendship" with girls) in our very interesting "History of Science and Scientific Method" classes taught by a biology professor (Professor Gopal, if I remember right) and by a fluent south Indian physics professor (who spoke English very fast!) of Delhi University.
We - at least I - never spoke with the female classmates. One day our Physics lecturer Mr. Chandra who taught us electricity and magnetism told the class to ELECT (by the raising of hands) a librarian for the physics library in his office room at Delhi University and two names were proposed by two students of St. Stephen's College - My name and the name of another St. Stephen's College student. I was surprised and very pleased to notice that the hands of all three or four Hindu College girls seated at the front right desk-and-bench near the door raised their hands to support Me! The counting of raised hands made Me the winner. (I should point out that I did not speak with any of the girls in our class even after their moving public show of support to Me.)
Two main reasons for the very low quality of St. Stephen's College which has sunk to the low level of JNU are: (1) female students (2) fake certificates of faculty (I have the strong impression that good-for-nothing rabble rouser Ms. Nandita Narain, the HEAD of the department of mathematics at St. Stephen's College, Delhi, is a shameless unethical CHEAT who has FAKE certificates).
In those days, a student who got first position in Pre-University Science exam in any Indian state was eligible to get direct admission to any IIT but My "dad" Krishna (very unromantic and very puritanical, contrary to the image of Lord Krishna having 16,108 pr. turned Queens, reminiscent of modern po. Queens) decided to get Me admitted to St. Stephen's College without female students and without female staff, on the advice of his friend Professor Gopal Das of Cotton College. I suspect that My romantically dry-as-dust and monogamous "dad" KRISHNA - an awful misnomer - had EARLIER told his professor friend (who was a lifelong bachelor) to suggest all-male St. Stephen's College before My dad and I met the tall and bald lifelong bachelor professor! The professor, instead of congratulating Me on My fantastic success in exam and heaping praise on Me, told Me: "We are nothing in this huge universe!" In other words, "Your getting first place is nothing really - think of Almighty God Ruler of the Universe!" (My "dad" Krishna must have trained him at an earlier meeting to speak those very discouraging words to Me to deflate My ego to prevent My getting too proud. Any other TOPPER student would have felt very angry with such a boring professor and would have silently shouted vulgar F*** you! But strangely, I felt nothing when the professor guy hinted at the big wide universe ruled by God and the utter insignificance of everyone compared to Him. I must have felt the truth of that statement. It was a TRUE statement of course. Smart readers will understand the HIDDEN implication of what I am saying indirectly and not directly because I try hard to be modest and humble and not show off. - G)
Thanks to the moral guidance of My puritanical "late" "father" Krishna (!) and My habit of seeing through the doubtful motives of honeytraps, I successfully avoided females on UIUC campus and UIC campus, when I was at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) on a Ph.D. university scholarship from the department of physiology and biophysics at UIUC and at University of Chicago (UIC) on M.S. university scholarship from the UIC department of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
The character Gopal (an ingenuous Indian youth who has gone to study at a U.S. university) in the entertaining novel THE INSCRUTABLE AMERICANS by Anurag Mathur (Rupa) is definitely an amusing caricature of Me as a student at U.S. universities.

STUDY GUIDES: CliffsNotes, SparkNotes, COLES NOTES etc.
If you don't intend to write and publish a study guide or prepare for a literature exam but only want to enjoy reading a novel, don't waste your time annotating a novel by the complicated method of using sticky notes and tabs of different colors which will slow down your reading very much and spoil your enjoyment of the novel. You may underline some sentences and mark some paragraphs you like. The easiest and best way to understand and enjoy a novel is to read interesting top quality short study guides like CliffsNotes, SparkNotes, COLES NOTES (reprinted in India by RAMA BROTHERS, Bank Street, Karol Bagh, New Delhi - 110005). I have many interesting low-priced slim paperback literature study guides published by CliffsNotes, SparkNotes, COLES NOTES. INDIA is a fantastic country for book lovers like Me. It seems to Me that CliffsNotes and SparkNotes and COLES NOTES are not easily available in the United States and UK, which is a pity. The reason for this must be lack of advertisement. By the way, no one ever told Me to BUY STUDY GUIDES which I have been buying for many years ever since My school days. Schaum's Outlines (McGraw-Hill) are wonderful study guides for college and university students. Schaum's Outlines are reprinted in India by TMH (Tata McGraw-Hill, New Delhi). I have about 40-50 Schaum's Outlines. I bought a fascinating Schaum's Outline on Differential Equations (by BRONSON, if I remember right; I left all My books in My engineer uncle Sankar Sinha's rented house in Oak Park, Chicago) from a bookstore in Chicago when I was an M.S. applied math student at UIC (University of Illinois at Chicago) on a university scholarship given to Me by the UIC department of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and I scored 100% on Laplace Transforms test at UIC thanks to that Schaum's Outline - Professor Sjoblom who taught us Laplace Transforms at UIC was very interesting too... Oswaal, Arihant, Full Marks, S. Chand etc. publish excellent study guides for Indian school students up to Class 12. (S. Chand publishes interesting guide books for even higher levels). Flipping through the pages of pseudo romantic novels by Indian authors Durjoy Datta, Ravinder Singh, Chetan Bhagat, Novoneel Chakraborty, Vinit K. Bansal [I'm Heartless... I bought this YA romantic novel about ten years ago (2022-10 = 2012) at a book fair in My home town Guwahati, so "9 y ago" - 9 years ago - is OK. If I had seen a recent date of publication, it would have been so ridiculous and funny.
WHY PUBLISH BORING BOOKS?
I wonder how pathetic publishers like Aditi Maheshwari Goyal and Niyogi (it is a strain even for a supercomputer brain to remember the names of so many pathetic females; Google and YouTube are very helpful when I fail to recall some female names) - COO Trisha De Niyogi - have managed to survive by publishing very dull boring books (perhaps with the exception of a very few books) no one will buy and read. I think pathetic females such as Aditi and Trisha et al probably publish books whose printing cost is PAID by the boring authors!
SEVERAL TIMES I have posted on My Blogger blog/blogs My FREE OFFER to ALL Indian and foreign publishers big and small but no publishers seem to believe Me - it seems that no big and small Indian and foreign publishers would believe even God Himself if He made a FREE OFFER like I do.

I think the BEST OPTION would be a sincere MALE Indian SMALL STRUGGLING PUBLISHER I could work with comfortably - working with any female publisher big or small could turn out to be very complicated and I would always feel very uncomfortable collaborating with a female publisher whereas I would feel very comfortable and at ease with a sincere male publisher. "Speaking Tiger Books" founders Mr. Ravi Singh and Mr. Manas Saikia, former heads of Penguin India and Cambridge University Press India, respectively, would be ideal friends for Me to collaborate with, I believe. (Ta ta bye bye, all female publishers! I don't want to get TRAPPED into complicated stuff! I don't have the slightest wish to have female collaboration because I have observed again and again that a fem. can turn treacherous and even try to be an ass. for no apparent reason. I think it is better to follow the maxim: "Better safe than sorry".) Kind-hearted Mr. Ravi Kumar, the owner of WESTERN BOOK DEPOT of Guwahati, My friend for many years, offered to publish any book I wanted to write and publish, but I thought it would be a BIG HASSLE for Me to do everything on My own, but Ravi Singh and Manas Saikia with their first class publishing experience seem to be just the RIGHT publishing friends for Me. (Forget publishing My Blogger blog posts or My Anchor podcasts! They are all easily available online anyway. We could try NEW THINGS together such as Me writing forewords to selected books and posting online reviews or writing reviews to be printed... TIGER in SPEAKING TIGER BOOKS reminded Me that ex lady Principal of Cotton College (who was the former head of Botany department of Cotton College, Guwahati - she was an elderly very fair Bengali female whose name was Kamala Roy perhaps or was it Lily?) told Me many years ago, when I was a student of B.Sc. Physics Honours at Cotton College, Guwahati, having transferred from St. Stephen's College to Cotton College, that when she went to St. Stephen's College, Delhi, for her son's admission, Principal S.C. Sircar spoke of Me as A TIGER!!! That was flattering. Actually, what happened was that in My B.Sc. Physics Honours 2nd year, I started regularly visiting in the evening the nearby student-friendly Delhi University Library and stood before tube!ight-lit bookshelves to take out books and read some pages from the books and put them back - and started missing college mathematics classes and as a result was short of attendance in mathematics and was not allowed to take the Delhi University B.Sc. Physics Honours Part I exam - I pretended to be VERY SAD and kind-hearted Principal S.C. Sircar told Me gently: "Kishalay, keep smiling." But as indirect punishment, he told Me that when I took re-admission, I would not be allowed to live in the St. Stephen's College hostel for the first two or three months. What the hell! What did St. Stephen's College think of itself? Its B.Sc. physics and chemistry pass course labs were poorly equipped and the college faculty did not impress Me. Luckily, I attended Physics Honours and Chemistry subsidiary classes at Delhi University (adjacent to St. Stephen's College) taught by excellent faculty of Delhi University. Long story short, I decided to transfer to My old alma mater Cotton College whose physics and chemistry departments were far superior to the pathetic physics and chemistry departments of pompous and inflated but empty and shallow St. Stephen's College! I suspect that Principal S.C. Sircar was forced by Nazis to prevent Me from taking the Part I exam because Nazis got scared when they saw Me attend the lecture of double Nobel prize winner (for chemistry and peace) Linus Pauling and his debate on the stage with Mr. M.C. Chagla, Education Minister of India at that time, at Bigyan Bhawan (I think), and also attended Linus Pauling's popular science talk on atoms and molecules in the Physics department of Delhi University. I think what SCARED Nazis most was the brazen way I wrote an essay in Hindi criticizing the poor educational system in India - I attended Hindi classes with other students at St. Stephen's College taught by an excellent professor with a doctorate and took the Hindi exam conducted by Delhi University because Hindi was not one of My subjects at school final or Pre-University Science (I had got first rank in P.U. Science) - frankly I had no idea that I was spied on continuously by scared Nazis and I had no thought of censorship and merrily wrote My critical essay in Hindi criticizing the prevalent system of education in India. Later, I went to a clerk in the examination department of Delhi University and asked him if I had passed My compulsory Hindi exam. Yes, I had passed, the clerk morosely replied with a SAD expression. I wondered why he was so MOROSE and sad-looking. NOW I KNOW what must have happened. The entire faculty and office staff of Delhi University were IN A STATE OF SHOCK that I wrote so brazenly and openly about India's poor educational system! I did not realize My secret identity until much later... When I went to My professors in the Physics and Chemistry departments of Delhi University to ask if I was short of attendance, they told Me that My attendance was OK. My young turban-wearing Punjabi classmate friend Upinder Singh Arora, who was a student of Hindu College - we both attended Physics honours classes at Delhi University - told Me that in Hindu College a student who was short of attendance would be allowed to sit for exam on payment of a fine. (I know that in Cotton College also, a similar system operates for non-collegiate and dis-collegiate students, but I cannot recall the difference - I was never non-collegiate or dis-collegiate, never mind the difference.) When I told a senior officer of Delhi University about My short of attendance PROBLEM, he asked Me: "WHY were You short of attendance?" "For health reasons," I bluffed. "Then improve Your health," he advised. I heard the efficient and friendly Mr. Roberts, who managed the St. Stephen's College office single-handedly, remarking vaguely about "PULLING STRINGS" - like a puppeteer pulling strings?!!! Here is the interesting truth about the whole short of attendance affair: IF I WERE ALLOWED TO APPEAR FOR MY UNIVERSITY B.Sc. PART I EXAMS, I WOULD DEFINITELY HAVE FAILED ALL MY EXAMS!!! Thank God I was saved from disgrace through the kindness of Principal S.C. Sircar. (I have long thought of him as the Indian reincarnation of John Ruskin. Some years later, an Indian mathematician from TIFR - who looked like S.C. Sircar who was reported to have died some years before - gave a neat step by step lecture on the history of quantum mechanics in our physics lecture room at Dibrugarh University department of physics when I was an M.Sc. Physics student at Dibrugarh University (I got first class first marks in M.Sc. Previous two semesters combined and received a university scholarship from Dibrugarh University). I met him in the evening at the guest house of Dibrugarh University and asked him about his opinion of METHODS OF THEORETICAL PHYSICS by Morse & Feshbach and he said it was a wonderful encyclopedic work but I got the impression that he had never heard of it. I have speculated for many years since that encounter that John Ruskin transformed into Principal S.C. Sircar who transformed into a phony TIFR mathematician who is at present in a new reincarnation! (I saw the 2-volume METHODS OF THEORETICAL PHYSICS in the library of St. Stephen's College and succeeded in buying the 2-volume book direct from Professor Feshbach, probably son of co-author Feshbach, some years ago for about 10,000 rupees). For many years, I have speculated that My "late" "father" Krishna Sinha was a transformation or reincarnation of the great English educator and wonderful essayist and historian Macaulay. - G
I had compulsory Hindi in school from Class 7 to Class 9 and always scored the highest marks in Hindi in all half yearly and annual examinations. (I took Public Administration and Hygiene in Class 10.) I was the first boy in class and got 3rd position in Assam school final exam (HSLC), scoring the highest marks in mathematics (I was given a gold medal by SEBA) - I was the only student to get the highest marks in mathematics - nowadays about 50 students get 100% in mathematics in the HSLC/High School Leaving Certificate exam every year! I missed the first position by 2 or 3 marks no thanks to My terribly poor marks in History - about 55% perhaps - I had no interest in boring history which I did not study throughout the year except almost the whole night before My history exam. (My school education started in nursery/KG class in English-medium St. Agnes' school in Haflong in Assam - I was nicknamed "Bobby" by the Sisters and Mothers - then I was admitted to Class 4 in a well-known Bengali-medium school in Hailakandi when I did not even know the letters অ আ ক খ - I was the youngest boy in class - I remember that I failed in 4 subjects in the Class 4 half yearly exam - SOMEHOW I managed to pass the Class 4 annual exam - then I got admitted to Class 5 in a well-known Bengali school in Guwahati - I barely managed to pass the half yearly and annual exams of Class 5 - but I kept on improving in My studies and got 2nd position in Class 6 half yearly exam and 1st position in Class 6 annual exam! Then My "father" Krishna (a misnomer!) admitted Me to Class 7 of the ENGLISH-medium boys' school Don Bosco high school in Gauhati (afterwards renamed Guwahati) - from BENGALI medium to ENGLISH medium! Gosh! I was 5th in the Class 7 half yearly examination - but I scored the highest marks in mathematics, Hindi, and Sanskrit. AFTER THAT, I always got the first position in class. (I had Bengali and Assamese and Hindi-speaking boy friends and I am fluent in these three languages plus in English and My "mother tongue" Bishnupriya Manipuri - OOPS! I did not have ANY GFs in colleges and universities in India nor in the U.S. universities UIUC and UIC.)

I remember that I enjoyed a delightful novel I read many years ago: HUNGER by Knut Hamsun (it was a paperback reprint by Rupa, I think) who received the Nobel Prize for literature. It was a truly delightful novel - I have read no other novel like it.

Given that the only witness to her fall was an impressionable girl of nineteen who was being treated for, among other things, acute hallucinations, it was easy for Carlos to steer the rest of the group back to camp, buying Lisa enough time to climb out of the cave and make her way down to a remote hunting lodge Carlos had prepared for her.
"Were you lovers?" Matt was ashamed to hear himself asking.
"Nooooo." Lisa frowned. "I think he would have liked to be. But no. He was my friend. He risked his own neck helping me and he lost his job, poor man. But he knew that I was well again, mentally, and that they would never in a million years have let me out. Especially after Frankie ... you know. They needed one scapegoat to punish for all those poor men who died. I was it."
"But you lived with Carlos?"
She shook her head again. "No. That would have been too dangerous. He paid for me to go to South America for the surgery. Indian and foreign publishers often choose smart fluent Indians (preferably female writers) if the novels are targeted at the big (chauvinistic) Indian market for "Indian" authors (writing in English), while American publishers generally choose smart fluent Americans (preferably female writers) if the novels are likely to appeal to the vast literate American reading public, and so on. Wells, it is clear to Me that "the country of the blind" actually refers to HELL inside Earth and that Nunez is in fact God. I find the story quite realistic but also very funny (to Me). However, I disagree completely with the idea that God "fell in love" with the girl Medina-sarote - wishful thinking on her part. At the moment I don't have (1) THE ARCHER (2) MANUAL OF THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT (3) HIPPIE by Paulo Coelho. I think I bought (4) BY THE RIVER PIEDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT which may be lying somewhere in My personal library.
The titles THE ARCHER and MANUAL OF THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT remind Me of f. Arjun/BM Kir. S. T.N./Himmler/Arnab (Sea), the title HIPPIE reminds Me of Ms. X and hippies Y, Z, Ms. Z, and the title BY THE RIVER PIEDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT reminds Me of fucking Peter/Satan.

Despite her negative review (she gives just "one star" rating, and that too for the vivid description of Geneva etc. in the book), everybody will want to read this book - ADULTERY is a hot topic! GRATITUDE
My "late" "father" Krishna Sinha was My most trusted, closest relative. All other "close" relatives turned out to be treacherous. A great teacher and moral guide, he was very humble and showed by personal example how to lead a pure clean life. It seemed to Me that he was constantly aware of My real identity from the moment of My arrival on Earth and ensured a clean environment to grow up in. I had the impression that he was a hunted man who lived incognito in fear - he never told Me the reasons for his secret fear - his pure life reminds Me of the story of Jesus Christ as told in the Bible New Testament. The enemies led by the Devil tortured Jesus Christ who cried out to his Father God for vengeance. I am very grateful to My "late" "dad" for his affection and care. I wish him well wherever he may be in his present reincarnation. Nowadays the world is full of fake sadhus.

It seems to Me that "Premchand" (aka "Dhanpat Rai Srivastava"), a well-known writer of fiction in Hindi and Urdu - (when I was a school student at Don Bosco High School in Guwahati many years ago, which was then a boys' school but is now a co-ed "higher secondary" school, I read an interesting Premchand short story in Hindi) - is the pen name of a repeatedly reincarnating top ghost writer.
"Dhanpat Rai Srivastava" used the pen name "Nawab Rai" in writing fiction in Urdu, then used the pen name "प्रेमचंद"/"Premchand" in writing fiction in HINDI.
(I wonder if Premchand is the pen name of a multilingual female ghost writer.)
I was surprised and intrigued to learn from Google that Premchand was born on July 31 because July 31 is said to be My date of arrival on planet Earth as a baby - actually My time of arrival was AFTER midnight of July 30 which is July 31 according to WESTERN system but July 30 according to INDIAN system and so My putative birthday is taken to be July 30. Anyway, I want to point out that I am not Dhanpat Rai Srivastava slash Nawab Rai slash Premchand प्रेमचंद - and I am NOT impressed by shallow terrestrial प्रेम Prem यानि pre-m. exemplified by promiscuous pre-m. s. (I find it interesting that Dhanpat Rai is the name of an Indian publisher of low-cost technical books. For example, a very good book on WORKSHOP CALCULATIONS & SCIENCE by KAPIL DEV for I.T.I. students is published by Dhanpat Rai. The pen name KAPIL DEV has always reminded Me of Indian cricketer Kapil Dev who also advertises RAPIDEX English speaking course published by Pustak Mahal. By the way, India will have TREMENDOUS technological growth THOUSANDS of times faster than now if ITI students are given honest practical training and not cheated. Practically all male and female IIT students are Nazi cheats. - G)
CORRECTION: Sorry! I have other technical books published by Dhanpat Rai but I have just taken out the book WORKSHOP CALCULATION AND SCIENCE by KAPIL DEV from My personal library and find that the name of the publisher is ASIAN PUBLISHERS (A Division of Computech Publications Ltd.), 7/31, Ansari Road, Darya Ganj, New Delhi - 110002. (I have always remembered the catchy name "KAPIL DEV" which was obviously intended to catch the attention of ITI students, but I was not sure of the publisher's name when I posted the above text, but I thought I could always check and post a correction if I was wrong.) I also have other books on WORKSHOP CALCULATIONS AND SCIENCE.
(ITI = Industrial Training Institute. IIT students and some IIT faculty are cheats. The snobbish looking down upon poor ITI students is a cunning method used by Nazi super cheat Satan to prevent very fast growth of technology in India. - G)
ADVANCE ROYALTY TO AUTHORS
From time to time, well-known big publishers organize much-advertised public events announcing advance royalty of MILLIONS OF DOLLARS to some of their published authors. This is pathetic deception. The sad truth is that struggling well-known "big publishers" hope that by this strategy the book will hopefully receive the attention of many readers who buy books. Even more tragic is that advance royalty is a LOAN paid to authors who will have to REFUND the money from the sale of their books! (It is like a BANK LOAN given to a customer who has to pay back his or her loan of course.) I even suspect that advance royalty to authors is a deeply moving dramatic play यानि नाटक यानि নাটক in which the publisher and author play supportive roles! (Perhaps a fake cheque/check is given to the author - or perhaps a real check/cheque is given to the author who withdraws the money from his or her bank account and quietly gives it back to the struggling publisher!)
